Is Your Water Toxic?

Okay so I've been watching Dr. Oz again and I just wanted to let other people know as well.

Most of our Water is Toxic and we don't even know it.

Some things Dr. Oz suggested is:

1. Get your Municipal Water Report get it from City Council or CCR. By Law it has to be available in your town.

* I got my Water quality report from WSSC.

2. Get a All in One Drinking Water Test

3. Use a Water Filter (there are several different kinds)

4. Get a Carbon Filter for your Shower

I have a Filtration system from Rainsoft that works really good. It filtrates all the water in my entire house. I started using it because they came out to my home years ago and did a water test when I was living in a townhouse and I wasn't pleased with the results so I purchased it and I took it with me when I moved into a Single Family Home. Upkeep of the system is important to keep it filtering the water properly.

Please have your water checked. It's important for you health. Some of us are being filled with toxins and bacteria that is all coming from our drinking water. On Dr. Oz's show he talked about a family in West Virginia whos children were getting rotten teeth from the water and whos brother died from a brain tumor that also came from the water.

Merry Christmas...Have a Safe & Happy Holiday!

Good Morning Everyone,

It is Christmas morning. Merry Christmas to all of you. I am wishing everyone and very safe and happy holiday. I got up this morning and watched a episode of Dr. Oz on my DVR and am so glad I did. Lately I have found myself drinking more alcohol than normal. I am not a avid drinker but lately I have enjoyed a glass of Verde with my seafood meals and I think I need to cut back. Dr. Oz reassured me of that fact this morning. He stated that Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are the 3 biggest holidays for Heart Attacks.

These are 3 things you can do to prevent a Heart Attack during this Holiday Season:

  1. Limit your Alcohol Intake The chemicals in alcohol can be toxic and irritating to heart muscle. And drinking alcohol in excess can trigger atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat that increases your risk of stroke, heart attack, and heart failure.
  2. Watch your Stress Levels Planning, shopping, wrapping, cleaning, cooking, hosting -- your to-do list balloons at the holidays. Add high expectations that the big day goes well, and your stress level can soar. Rising stress hormones elevate your blood pressure and heart rate, setting the stage for a heart attack.
  3. Be Weary of eating High Fat Meals Research has shown that eating one high fat meal can render your arteries less effective at pumping blood for up to 12 hours. Fat can cause the lining of your arteries to spasm, reducing the space for blood to flow. At the holidays when one big meal follows another, your arteries have few chances to recover from the damage.
I want us all to make it into the New Year so please be careful out there everyone and enjoy your Holiday. Be mindful of what you eat, drink and don't let anything stress you out. Love you all! Until next time......

My Knees are Killing Me

Every morning when I wake up my knees are killing me. I guess it's because they are stiff because sometimes when i sit for long periods of time they are are stiff and hurt as well. I have been putting off physical therapy for a while now. I was told I had arthritis in my knees. At first I used supplements and drinks to try to aid it but that's not good enough. I know weightloss will help it a great deal and that should be my #1 focus.

It's just hard but the new year is nearing and it's time to stop putting off things and get them done. I admit I am a huge procrastinator and that keeps me from doing so many things, not just this. I need to get a handle on my procrastination for real. Ugh! My knees hurting makes me feel so old. I'm not even 40 yet and on some mornings I'm limping around like a old lady.

Time to put up or shut up and get things done. I had a treadmill that I sold because I was told by my doctor that walking was bad for my knees plus I hate the treadmill. It is awfully boring. I'd rather walk outside around the track or something. I also have a exercise bike but I need a better one. I bought the cheapest one they had being cheap but I need something better. I'm gonna really have to invest in myself more but that's another post for another day. Later.

Thank God it's Friday!

Hello Everyone, It's Friday and I am so glad about it. I had a very eventful day yesterday. Went to my company holiday party at Maggiano's. We had a good time. Although my job is nutty is a fruitcake, I love it there. It's simple, laidback and alot of fun at times. It's not all stuffy like most corporate jobs. I've been there for going on 6 years now. Been there longer than I've been at any job...ever.

I was so pleased to have received a Holiday Bonus. That a was blessing in and of itself. Thank you Jesus for that blessing in my life. I am going to try my best not to spend it all. I plan to give my kids money for Christmas from it and that's about. I will spend some of it on whichever weight loss program I decide to join. I have also contemplated doing something that includes the meals that I eat like Nutrisystem or something. I don't know. I will figure out something by the end of the year. Would love to hear your suggestions. Til next time. Enjoy your weekend and Be Safe!

Decisions, Decisions

I'm trying to decide which Weight Loss program I should do for the new year. I'm debating between Herbal Life, Weight Watchers and the 4 day diet which is also 50 million pounds.com.

Maybe I'll try them all. I don't know. I need to decide within the next few weeks cause the new year is fast approaching. If you have any thoughts, let me know. I'll let you know what I decide.

I'll talk to you later....Peace!

Hope you had a Nice Weekend!

Sorry I didn't post this weekend. I completely forgot. I didn't drink my shakes this weekend as I should have. Weekends are hard to stay on track when dieting but I still didn't eat too bad. I'll make up for it this week anyway. I can tell I've lost weight by how my clothes feel but I'm not ready to weigh myself just yet.

This morning I'm having grapes and oranges for breakfast and I will have a mid morning snack of a cinnamon raisin mini bagel with Apple Butter. Yum! For Lunch I will most likely drink the shake and for I am hoping for Dinner as well. We'll see....Happy Monday!

It's Friiiiiiiiddddaaaaaayyyyy!!!

Yippee! Friday is finally here. Thank God! Looking forward to the weekend. I have lots of work to do around the house I guess that will be my exercise. Today I had my normal shake for breakfast and blueberry applesauce for a snack. It's pretty good. It was the 1st time I've ever had Blueberry Applesauce but it was quite tasty. A lil tart but still good nonetheless. It's made by Mott's and called Healthy Harvest. It comes in several different flavors. For Lunch I had Benihana. For those of you who don't know, that is a Japanese Steak House. It's very good. I had Shrimp & Chicken with Rice & Vegetables and a Salad. Yumm-o!! For Dinner, it will be another shake. I pray that I make it through this weekend alright. I think that will be the big test! To see if I can make it thru the weekend without eating too much. Guess we'll see. I hope to blog on the weekends too but just in case I forget...........Have a Good Weekend.

It's Thursday...one more Day til the Weekend.

I did okay today I guess. I had my shake as normal for Breakfast. French Vanilla with Orange Juice and Ice. Yum! For Lunch I had Domino's Chicken wings. I know, I know...not the best thing to be eating but I'll have another Shake for Dinner and see about getting some exercise in tonight. As each day goes by it gets easier and easier I think.

Staying busy helps as well because it keeps my mind off of food. I am getting plenty of water in that's for sure. That's all I drink pretty much all day outside of the shake is water.
Water, Water, Water.

My doctor called today and said I need to eat a low fat diet cause my LDL was a bit too high. 20 points over I think she said but she said I can get that number down easy by eating a low fat diet and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. So that's what I plan on doing. Til tomorrow.

Today was a Easy Day!

Today I was barely hungry at all except for this morning before I had my shake but today was a pretty easy day for me. May have been because I was really busy all day I dont know. Or maybe it's just getting easier for me. I hope it's just getting easier for me. Right now, I'm chomping on a banana. My afternoon snack. I had salmon and broccoli for Lunch today. It was delicious. Salmon is my favorite fish and with my husband seasoning it. It makes you wanna slap your momma. LOL

Well until tomorrow.....

It's Day #2!

Well it's Day #2 and I'm not dead yet. LOL I had a shake for breakfast and granola bar and a banana for a snack this morning. I had a glass of water too but now I'm getting hungry. It's weird cause most of the time I don't even eat Breakfast but now I seem to be extra hungry even with having the shake for Breakfast.

I think my meal of the day is gonna be Lunch instead of Dinner. By the time Dinner rolled around yesterday I was so in a bad mood from not having ate a meal all day. LOL So today I will have a Shake for Dinner instead. So far, so good. The shake I'm drinking twice a day is by Herbalife French Vanilla. It's pretty good with OJ. For Lunch today, I'm having Salmon, Asparagus and Mashed Potatoes. I know the Mashed Potatoes may not be a good idea but it could be worse. I think the main thing for me is I don't want to cut out too much because then I will crave too much food that I'm not having and fail.

Day One of my Weight Loss Journey

Good Morning Everyone,

I am once again going on a quest to Lose Weight. One of my biggest obstacles is procrastination.
I put off everything. And the day to actually do it seems to never come.

I almost put it off again this morning but I kept talking to myself saying come on Ray, you can do it. Stop procrastinating. I created this blog to kinda hold myself accountable this time. I wanted to call it "You have a such a Pretty Face" but that was already taken so I'm calling it: "You are such a Pretty Girl". But "You have such a Pretty Face" is what I hear all the time mostly from relatives. They say it as if it's a compliment when I really know what they mean. LOL I'll talk more about that later. Today is Day One. Let's see how it goes...

I purchased a personal blender last week from Kmart. It's a Hamilton Beach and it was $19.99, it works really good and I can pretty much carry it everywhere I go.You just put your fruits, ice, juice and whatever else in the blender, close it up and push the button. You can even drink out of it. Here it is @ Amazon.com. It's called Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender.

Right now, I'm drinking a French Vanilla & Orange Juice Shake. It's pretty tasty. Kinda like a creamsicle. This is my breakfast along with a glass of water and a Granola Bar. I'll have a Banana for a Mid Morning Snack. Breakfast is pretty easy cause I hardly ever eat breakfast anyway. The real test will come later on in the day when my body is craving snacks & other food.

My 1st goal is 8 pounds. That will put me out of a number I have been in for far too long! I figure small goals along the way is better than just 1 big huge #. That doesn't seem to work for me. I need small successes to stay motivated. Wish me Luck!
